Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Maait, met with the industrial and commercial business community in an open dialogue regarding the new budget, emphasizing the anticipation for a swift return of economic activity. This includes boosting agricultural, industrial, and export production.
\nDuring an open dialogue about the new budget project with representatives from the General Federation of Industries,EABA and the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, the Minister stated that the new budget is exceptional, aiming to achieve an initial surplus of 3.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). General revenues are estimated at around 2.5 trillion pounds, mainly relying on non-tax revenues, while general expenses amount to about 3.8 trillion pounds with a growth rate of 23%. There is significant room for flexible spending to address internal and external shocks and enhance efforts to alleviate the living burdens on citizens, consistent with the bold government measures taken recently.
\nEABA emphasized the importance of sustainable support for small exporters to enhance the competitiveness of their products in various global markets. They also commended several recent decisions that help empower the private sector as a driver of job-rich economic development, including the decision to set a ceiling for public investments not exceeding one trillion pounds in the next fiscal year.
